Janet has over twenty three years experience of family law. She is a family mediator and collaborative lawyer. One of few solicitors in the country to be accredited by Resolution, the Family Lawyers Association, to deal with complex financial matters.
It is in this area that Janet now specialises, together with more complex private law children cases and those with international aspects. Her experience of dealing with financial matters for clients has included cases involving offshore trusts, family trusts, complex company formations, partnerships and high net assets. Janet also deals with cases that involve international terms, which include the registration and enforcement of orders in other jurisdictions.
The children matters that she deals with include cases involving the Hague Convention and the Child Abduction Act and she has been successful in ensuring that children remain within the jurisdiction.
Janet says, "I always enjoy the challenge of a new case and getting a client to trust me and believe in me. I know I can do the best job for them but they need to believe it too. Once that trust has been developed then we can work together to get the best for the client. There is a great deal of satisfaction in seeing a client at the beginning of their case, sometimes very distressed and then seeing them come through the legal process much stronger and in a position to get on with their life"
Outside of work Janet is a keen equestrian and spends some of her spare time riding her horse PJ. Filling the gaps between spending time with her husband and her horse Janet also finds time to play the piano and tap dance.
