MARTIN SISSONS
 (Asset Management) Call: 0114 2413972

Martin has specialized in residential conveyancing and asset management for over 20 years.

By taking the time to get to know his clients he is able to take a more holistic approach to the work he carries out for them. For example, he not only help clients through the conveyancing process, but will also advise on connected issues, such as Capital Gains Tax implications if you are selling a trust property or a property which is not your main residence, how best to own your new property to mitigate your estate’s liability to Inheritance Tax and whether there are any tax benefits to be had by putting the new property into trust.

If you need to borrow money to finance your new purchase, or if you are looking to invest the proceeds from the sale, Martin works closely with several Independent Financial Advisors who can advise on the best products available to suit your personal circumstances.

Martin has particular expertise in advising clients on inheritance tax mitigation schemes, including tax planning through inheritance tax efficient Wills and lifetime gifts into trusts, which ensure that his clients and their families retain more of their hard earned assets and less is lost to the tax man.

Sadly some people are not always capable of dealing with their own affairs, through a variety of illness, accidents and inherited conditions. Here Martin safeguards their assets through applications to the Court of Protection. Where the Court of Protection is not required elderly or disabled individuals may still appoint others to act through a lasting power of attorney, which Martin regularly arranges.

Where nursing or residential care may be required Martin negotiates complicated rules to avoid the payment of such fees from private assets.

When we die we leave behind an estate that needs to be managed in an efficient manner in order to ensure that it passes to the right people and with the minimum payments of tax.

"One of the greatest rewards for me is seeing the value of the work I do. In a lot of my work, that value is monetary and I can save clients thousands on tax. The other value comes through being with people through often difficult times, working through complex legal issues and that's rewarding to me too."

Martin relaxes away from the office by following the fortunes of Sheffield Wednesday together with his sons and is also a keen guitarist and saxophonist.
